It is indeed my great pleasure and privilege to welcome all of you to the Sri lanka Dental Association Annual scientific sessions 2016, FDI Global CE programme and Prof. S. B. Dissanayake Memorial Oration.
Among the main objectives of the international congress of SLDA are, furthering the progress of dental science, to disseminating scientific and technical knowledge and promoting good relations amongst the dental profession all over the world.
Whenever the SLDA congress takes place, it must emphasize the importance of Oral Health as an integral part of general health, with the aim of making public authorities aware of the importance of our profession.
The SLDA Congresses are also a living example of professionalism. Whilst on the one hand our efforts individually and collectively are directed towards helping the public, on the other hand, we strive to learn more to develop and plan a future that will bring greater success for all of us in the world of tomorrow.
This congress is being held at a time when crucial social, economic and political changes are taking place with important implications for all humanity. The dental profession will undoubtedly be called upon to face great challenges to improve oral health and the well being of the population. I am certain that we will meet these challenges and willingly accept the new responsibilities.
The diversity and strength of the profession are represented in this congress. A galaxy of international dental experts is brought together and the participants are afforded various opportunities to interact with them.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the organizing committee, the distinguished speakers, sponsors, trade exhibitors and all the others who’ve helped us in numerous ways to organize this event successfully.
Finally I would like to wish all delegates, particularly our international visitors, a memorable stay in our beautiful Island and may you take back joyful memories with you.

On behalf of the Sri Lanka Dental Association, I warmly welcome all of you to our most awaited academic event of the year. Living In a time with rapid development of technical innovations and change of concept taking place, practicing dentistry needs constant updating of their knowledge and skills to maintain the standards of practice.
The sessions provide a great opportunity for the dental practitioner be it in the government or private sector to update their knowledge, skills and there technique in their practices for the benefit of the patients.
The annual scientific sessions 2016 will be held with the contribution of very eminent personalities both foreign and local who will share their knowledge to broaden the knowledge in important aspects of dentistry which will be of paramount importance to a us.
On behalf of the council of the Sri Lanka Dental Association I take this opportunity thank all speakers foreign and local who will be leaving there busy schedules aside to be with us and the spongers without whom the sessions may not be a reality. I also warmly welcome all the participants who will be having there trade stalls at the event. I invite all of you to participate and be present not only to gain the benefit in acquiring knowledge but also to justify the efforts by our association.

It is my honour and privilege to invite you to the 83rd year SLDA Annual Scientific Session & FDI/Global CE Programme, from 25-26 June 2016 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Congress will feature highly respected speakers who will share, discuss, debate and dissect significant new developments and scientific advancements that will impact the future of dentistry. The planned programme will provide continuing education opportunities for dentists from all fields of endeavor, as well as world-class content for researchers and industry supporters.
SLDA has been increasing its Membership and Educational activities since it was established nearly 83 years ago in 1932 in Colombo. It established itself as the well recognized and the foremost institution in organized dentistry in Sri Lanka.
Aside from the excellent scientific program in the form of workshops and lectures, the inauguration, Prof. S.B. Dissanayake Memorial Oration and fellowship will give participants a chance to network among colleagues while enjoying the cuisine, culture, and warm hospitality at which Sri Lanka excels.
